When I Walk…..

When I walk, (I do it for health, not weight) I sometimes see the same familiar faces walking feverishly to lose weight. Month after month, I see the same faces. But their weight never changes. Our bodies are very strict about maintaining the least amount of glucose (sugar) levels at any given time because glucose (sugar) is inherently damaging to vessels, organs, and tissues. The less glucose (sugar) that is absolutely necessary the better.

Most people know eating candy and cakes are high is sugar and try to avoid them, except on occasions. What some don’t know (I did not, before I got into all this shit), is that nonfiberous forms of carbohydrates (grains, breads, rice, potatoes, etc) cause your blood sugar to spike. Two slices of bread for example contain about 6 teaspoons of glucose (sugar), 6 times the norm allowed in the blood stream. It converts to sugar pretty fast in the body. (A normal healthy person has about 1 teaspoon in their body at a time). So the body reacts to this sugar spike, sending out insulin. Insulin then regulates the sugar back to down manageable levels in the blood stream. It sends glucose to be stored as fat (if your not burning it through activity at the time). But insulin blocks fat being released as fuel. So you don’t burn fat. You STORE it. I’m pretty sure that’s why I see no change in the familiar faces. They are fueling up with the wrong fuel. They must be wondering why they are not dropping weight. I see them training, walking hard. I want to stop them and tell them this, but I don’t as most people won’t change.

My experience losing my 40 pounds came off (over a year and a half ago, so no I didn’t gain all my weight back like they said I would) when I stopped eating that stuff. I am now eating some sweet potatoes, regular potatoes and white rice(not brown due to phytates) on occasions,(but you got to cut it out in the beginning!) especially when I train harder. I never eat wheat, or gluten foods due to the damage it does to our digestive tracts…..

Some simple facts

In nature vitamins and nutrients are delivered to you in a complex, not in a isolated, concentrated form. Like pills on the shelves.

If you are looking to reduce or eliminate sugar from your diet, you need to re define what sugar is. It’s breads, pastas, noodles, potatoes, rice, any kind of grains, etc, these convert to sugar in our bodies. Its not only sugar crystals .

I always hear from my friends and relatives that organic foods are so expensive. They are. But I look at it like this. Pay a little more now, and lesser the chances later you’ll be paying the price in health care. Let’s face it, health care prices is outrageous. Why don’t you eat well now, live to be an old geezer, and just drop dead one day.

Organic prices would drop if we all demanded it.  Stores respond to consumer demand. Imagine that.  Buying food at lower prices and getting healthier at the same time.

But we are in a weird state now.  The guys with the power, big Agra and Farma are set in place. When anyone tries’ to confront them, they got tons of money behind them. Again, we can do it. If we all said NO to GMO’s for instance, it would stop.

It seems to me that because the bad foods we choose now kill us slowly, no one listens. No one changes. People change when something bad happens to them. But sometimes that’s just too late. But some people will eat themselves into the grave. We all will die one day. But why now make it a happy, energy charged, good looking you, rather than dependent on tons of medications, and suffering to get to that ripe old age. The key is in the FOOD you eat. Plain and simple.

I didn’t start off Paleo, I did a conventional diet first……

I wanted to start this blog after I lost about 38 pounds, didn’t need to take my stomach medication any more, lost my dandruff, and feel so much better. I took my blood pressure which before the diet was at about 140/90 and now is down to about 100/66.

 

Another reason I am so passionate about this diet is that I see so many of my friends suffering with chronic illness. It seems I have to pull and arm and a leg out to try to get them to even try the diet.

 

I know it’s hard to do. Everywhere you look there are places to eat, with loaded carbs. In the stores you got everything with HFCS in it or Trans fats.

 

I grew up initially on the north shore of Oahu. I was a hippie kid! I remember my parents eating whole wheat and this and that. I wanted Twinkies! Anyhow, growing up on the beaches of the north shore of Oahu was fantastic. We lived about 100 feet from the beach. A long white sand beach. I would come home from school and the beach was my playground.

 

I started off my weight loss adventure on Nutrisystem. I lost about 25 pounds on it, but felt weak and didn’t like the fact I had to eat every 2-3 hours, or I would get the shakes. After about 2 months on the nutrisystem diet, I converted over to the primal blueprint, and lost another 13 pounds. This diet I really didn’t count calories and many of my ailments I still had while on nutrisystem, went away, specifically my acid reflux, my dandruff, my blood pressure dropped, and my cognitive function increased. I felt a lot happier, but at the same time, I caught onto bullshit much faster, and snapped back at people when I detected BS. It seemed I was more irritable, but it was more like I wasn’t in a brain fog, and could see bull shit coming a lot sooner.

Eat everything i moderation? I don’t think so…….;)

Alot of people believe that eating everything in moderation is key for weight loss.  I don’t agree with that however. If I took a plate of healthful foods, and put a tiny, tiny piece of gluten on it, the whole plate is gluten as far as i’m concerned. You cant take out bad food. It’s either or. Your body will react badly to it if it’s a full plate of bad stuff, or just a little bit. If a person try’s to convince me its ok to going to eating the way I used to,(eating EVERYTHING in moderation) well no thanks. I don’t want the acid reflux, high blood pressure, pre diabetes, high small dense LDL particles, mind fog, low energy, migraines, and gain back the 40 pounds lost so I can eat a Twinkie in moderation…..;)

What is one cause of over eating?

A Diet high in carbohydrates triggers our master hormone leptin to become severely dis regulated.  Blood sugar surges (after consuming heavy carb foods) lead to leptin surges and ultimately to leptin resistance, in which leptin signaling is no longer effectively heard by the brain. This sends a message of “starvation”to the hypothalamus which then reacts promptly with increases in appetite or cravings and inspires unhealthy “binge” eating.

So carbohydrates is what causes the cravings to “pig out”, not protein or fat ….:(
